Dear reader,
In these uncertain times, as divisions resurface and distances
seem to widen, our magazine reflects on one of the most ancient
and universal human practices: hospitality. Moments shared
with those we love, people gathered around tables, the quiet
joy of being welcomed and feeling a sense of belonging. Rituals
that connect us, through food, conversation, or simply by being
together.
German designer Konstantin Grcic hosts us in his Berlin studio
and Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea opens the gates to
his living Tree Museum. Chef Tanja Grandits teaches us how
hospitality lies in small gestures, attentive care, and spaces
shaped with intention. Because to speak of hospitality is,
inevitably, to speak of food. From bread and wine, elemental
symbols that have long carried social and spiritual meaning, to
contemporary reflections on nutrition.
In Switzerland, hospitality is closely connected to the concepts
of wellbeing, balance and cooperation. We explore this broader
cultural attitude, discover the legacy of a long-established Swiss
manufacturer and visit the laboratories of ETH Zurich, one of the
country’s most respected public universities. Again and again,
we encounter the same principle: what truly matters is often
invisible, revealing itself slowly – through trust, memory, and shared
experience.
By celebrating hospitality as a lived attitude rather than a cliché,
this issue reminds us that the most meaningful form of luxury is
connection, and that people are always at the centre of it.
