TWO FOR ONE
With a documented history of over 200 years, Basler Brot is baked in pairs so that the oval
loaves join during baking. Before being sold, they are separated by hand, leaving one side
without crust and revealing the soft crumb inside. Its distinctive two-part shape symbolises
the union of the two half-cantons of Basel.
